Fort Jackson is holding a special Memorial Day ceremony to honor the men and women who have fallen in military service on behalf of their nation.

FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- Fort Jackson is holding a special Memorial Day ceremony to honor the men and women who have fallen in military service on behalf of their nation.

Fort spokesman Pat Jones said a wreath will be laid Monday at the statue of Andrew Jackson near the installation's main gate.

A color guard will present the American flag and the post's military colors. Soldiers will appear in vintage uniforms and a 21-gun salute was being planned.

Fort Jackson's commander, Maj. Gen. James Milano will speak and members of the Society of Military Widows and members of the Gold Star Wives organizations were being invited as special guests.
