Home Staging Surprise: Emerald Green Shrink Wrap | Real Estate Flat

home stagingOne look at the well-trimmed landscaping and welcoming brick facade of this three-bedroom Houston home, and you may wonder why it?s still on the market. But take a gander inside and ? whoa! Little green pod people everywhere!

No, wait. It?s just green cellophane ? yards and yards of the stuff ? wrapped around practically every piece of furniture in the house.

Where exactly in the home staging manual does it suggest outfitting your antique grandfather clock to look like Gumby? It?s a shame, too, because at $119,500, this nearly 2,500-square-foot home offers a lot of house and plenty of neat features.

?I didn?t realize it would catch anyone?s attention,? the listing agent, Linda Brewer, said with a chuckle.

It turns out that the seller is getting ready to put many of the home furnishings in storage, and the Martian-colored shrink-wrap is just the first step in the process, Brewer told AOL Real Estate.

Not to say that there?s anything wrong with the house. On the contrary, it?s the sparkly-green accent that stopped us in our tracks when we first saw it on Curbed. So maybe there?s something to be said for wrapping your home in neon Saran before listing it on the market.

In any event, if you?re tempted to follow suit, read our home staging guides for practical advice:
