Ferguson Tackled Fergie Over Name Claim

Former British royal Sarah Ferguson once contacted Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie and blasted the pop star after she tried to copyright her nickname.

The Duchess of York was dubbed 'Fergie' by the British press following her wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986.

And after pop star Fergie released her solo album, The Dutchess, Ferguson admits she tried to tackle the singer over her claim to the name - but ended up convincing her to perform for her charity instead.

She tells CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, "When the Black Eyed Peas (frontwoman) tried to copyright Fergie, I rang her and said, 'You're trying to copyright Fergie, you've got an album called The Dutchess, excuse me, leave me something!'.

"I said, 'You know what, come and sing for my charity,' and she did. She came and sang for The Sarah Ferguson Foundation at Wall Street. Amazing. And we raised a lot of money for building school(s), and her mum is a teacher."
