Five Children Killed in East Texas SUV Rollover

In a tragic accident, five children between the ages of 2 and 13 were killed when the SUV in which they were riding rolled over on I-20 approximately 70 miles east of Dallas. Two adults and three other children were also injured in the crash, one critically injured. Of the 12 people in the SUV, only the driver and a 15-year-old girl escaped injury.

Rollover Crash Throws Nine Children from SUV.

Frederico Acuna was trying to take the children to a water park. He allegedly lost control of the SUV when a rear tire blew out. The vehicle rolled multiple times down the highway embankment, throwing nine children from the SUV.

Authorities say that the investigation is ongoing but that criminal charges are possible. The GMC Envoy had no child safety seats and was carrying too many passengers. Texas law requires that children be restrained in a moving vehicle.
